Budget and Funding for the scheme
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is executing this plan. The government has currently allocated Rs. 2000 crore as the budget for the 2016–2017 fiscal year. Over 1.5 crore families that are below the poverty level will receive these LPG connections.
This plan has a total budget of Rs. 8,000 crores and will be implemented over a three-year period. The funds that are saved via the ‘Give-it-up’ subsidy campaign will also be used for this. For qualifying houses, a subsidy of Rs. 1,600 would be provided; the entire amount will be credited to the female head of the household. Furthermore, EMI facilities can now be accessed.
