Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, “Free Coaching Scheme for SC and OBC Students” is an educational program. The Scheme aims to give economically disadvantaged candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) high-quality coaching so they can sit for competitive exams to gain entry into reputable technical and professional higher education institutions and/or obtain suitable jobs in the public or private sector.
Through Central Universities that have received institutional recognition under the Scheme, the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) will collaborate with the Ministry to carry out its implementation. The plan underwent revisions in 2022–2023. The updated guidelines do not provide for institute empanelment. The Department selects the students directly, and they are free to pursue coaching at any institution of their choosing. As a result, no institute is currently implemented under the plan.

The primary goal of the new coaching program is to assist students who fall into the SC and OBC categories in receiving the education they are entitled to. The Government of India has launched a scheme to assist all the students who are very ambitious in their studies but are falling behind because of the lack of money that they have in their homes. Ans. With permission from both the university and the student, a student may transfer to another Central University if there is insufficient enrollment there.
Q.) Are students at Central Universities able to enroll more than the allotted spots?
Ans. They can enroll more students than the allotted spots, but the Ministry does not pay for these additional students.
Q.) In what way do students get paid under this scheme?
Ans. All student bank accounts with Aadhar enabled get payments via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Q.) How is student attendance tracked during coaching?
Ans. Central Universities tracks and shares DAF’s biometric attendance data based on Aadhar. If a student misses class without a valid reason, their candidature may be withdrawn.
