Total Rural Employment Scheme was started by the Government of India in the year 1989. This scheme was created by combining Employment Assurance Scheme and Jawahar Gram Samridhi Yojana. पहले यह योजना जनपद पंचायत एवं ग्राम पंचायत के माध्यम से संचालित होती थी। इस योजना के माध्यम से लाभार्थियों को 100 दिनों की गारंटीशुदा रोजगार प्रदान किया जाता है। इस योजना के संचालन में राज्य सरकार द्वारा 20% राशि खर्च की जाती है और इस योजना के संचालन में 80% राशि केंद्र सरकार द्वारा खर्च की जाती है। इस योजना के तहत अनुसूचित जाति और अनुसूचित जनजाति को प्राथमिकता दी जाती है। इसके अलावा इस योजना के तहत 30% महिलाओं को आरक्षण प्रदान किया गया है।

- केंद्रीय स्तर पर ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालय और राज्य स्तर पर ग्रामीण विकास विभाग मासिक और वार्षिक प्रगति रिपोर्ट तैयार करेंगे।
