Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K. Stalin officially opened “Pudhumai Penn” in Chennai on September 5. Pudhumai Penn, which translates to “modern woman,” is the program’s name that has been retained to remind participants that it is not just about financial aid but also about modern times. Because of its wisdom in focusing on the present, Pudhumai Penn asserts that this “revolutionary strategy” will “be pathbreaking and revolutionary in the next few years.” The program offered by the Tamil Nadu government is a fantastic effort to assist women who wish to pursue higher education. In Tamil Nadu, India, the government launched the Pudhumai Penn Scheme with the goal of empowering women. The program gives women—with an emphasis on those from underrepresented communities—financial support to launch their own small enterprises. Eligible women can apply for loans under the scheme up to 5 lakhs.
MK Stalin, the Tamil Nadu chief minister, started the Pudhumai Penn program to assist female students. Through this program, young female students who had focused on classes six through twelfth at Government schools receive monthly financial assistance of Rs 1000. In September 2022, the government unveiled this plan. Roughly 1.16 lakh girls have already benefited from this program. The government is currently launching the second phase of this scheme. The scheme launch was announced by the chief minister during a function hosted in a Hindu college in the Thiruvallur district. The second phase will benefit 1.04 lakh more girls. Following the implementation of this plan, about 12,000 female understudies resumed their studies after a sabbatical.
Given the state of the nation’s education system and its decline, the majority of people are in favor of modernizing and putting more emphasis on education. The initiative includes a focus on female students who require financial assistance for their education. This suggests that educating female residents is another goal of this program. The Pudhumai Penn plan, as it is commonly known, aims to help economically disadvantaged families whose daughters cannot attend college due to financial constraints. The Pudhumai Penn Scheme gives student girls a base allowance of Rs. 1000 to support their education, enabling them to succeed during pivotal career periods.
