Some important information related to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

• National Urban Housing Fund of Rs 60,000 crore has been allocated to finance the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
• Affordable housing will be given infrastructure status.
• GST will be reduced from 8% to 1% for affordable housing projects and from 12% to 5% for other housing projects.
• The initial amount to be provided under the Affordable Housing Fund will be Rs 10000 crore.
• Income tax exemption will also be available. This exemption will be given under Section 80-IBA. Which will be 30 to 60 square meters for metro cities and 60 to 90 square meters for non-metro cities.
• An Alternative Investment Fund will be introduced which will be of Rs 25000 crore.
