Kusum Yojana Application Fee

Under this initiative, to apply for a solar power plant, the applicant must pay GST and an application cost of ₹ 5000 per MW. Demand draft made out to Managing Director Rajasthan Akshay Urja Nigam will be used to make this payment. Applying for a 2 MW or more requires the following application fee.

Features of PM Kusum Yojana

  • Initially, the national government was going to distribute 1.75 million off-grid agricultural solar pumps.
  • Farmers’ arid land will receive sunlight with a potential of roughly 10,000 MW.
  • The excess energy generated by the solar power plants that were installed on these barren regions will be purchased by state power distribution companies, or DISCOMS.
  • Also, DISCOMS will be eligible for subsidies to purchase this electricity.
  • Farmers that take part in this program will get a direct benefit transfer (DBT) payment of 60% of the cost of solar pumps into their bank accounts.
  • Farmers will get thirty percent of the subsidy amount as loans, with the federal and state governments receiving the remaining seventy percent.
  • Therefore, just 10% of the price

Three Components of PM Kusum Yojana

  • By 2022, the three program components should have added about 30.8 Gigawatts of solar capacity.
  • Component A: Ten thousand megawatt-plus decentralized ground-mounted renewable energy plants connected to the grid.
  • Component B calls for the installation of two million autonomous solar-powered farm pumps.
  • Component C consists of 1.5 million grid-connected solar-powered agricultural pumps.

What are the Benefits of the Kusum yojana?

Benefits of this strategy include the following:

  • The Indian government started building solar power facilities with a combined capacity of 28,250 MW.
  • A 30% loan and a 60% subsidy from the government will cover the entire cost.As a result, just 10% of the entire cost of installing solar pumps and plants goes toward our farmers.
  • According to the specifics of the KUSUM Scheme, our government will finance the installation of cutting-edge solar pumps.Their 720MV capacity makes them better for irrigation.
  • Through this program, our farmers can sell our government the excess electricity their plants produce. This guarantees our farmers’ revenue growth potential.
  • Using unused and desolate land, a landholder in a rural location can generate a steady income

Intended Beneficiaries of PM Kusum Yojana

  • Production of solar energy will become more decentralized thanks to the PM Kusum Yojana.
  • DISCOMS transmission losses will also be reduced.
  • Additionally, DISCOMS will have less of a burden from subsidies, particularly in the agriculture industry.
  • Additionally, farmers will be able to increase their non-agricultural revenue by selling DISCOMS the excess energy they produce.
  • Groundwater eventually runs out more rapidly as a result of the substantial subsidies provided to the agriculture sector, which makes things more expensive for discoms.
  • However, PM Kusum Yojana would make sure that farmers’ financial situation also gets better.
  • In the end, this will improve India’s chances for a green economy and help it fulfill its obligations under the Paris Agreement.
  • Furthermore, PM Kusum Yojana would ensure that farmers become less dependent on the diesel pumps that are already in use.
  • This will ensure water conservation as well as water and energy security.

Objectives of PM Kusum Yojana

  • The PM Kusum Yojana’s primary goal is to help farmers install off-grid solar pumps in rural areas so they may become less reliant on grid-connected areas.
  • Ensuring the farmers’ financial and water security is one of the scheme’s key goals.
  • Additionally, under PM Kusum Yojana, farmers will be able to install solar power generation equipment on otherwise unusable land and sell the electricity they generate to electricity companies.
  • As a result, the plan will also guarantee that farmers’ non-agricultural revenue increases significantly.

Eligibility for Kusum Yojana

  • India must be the applicant’s permanent home.
  • Under the Kusum Yojana, an application may be made for a solar power plant with a capacity of 0.5 to 2 MW.
  • In accordance with the amount of land he owns or the capacity announced by the distribution business, the applicant may request up to 2 MW of capacity (whichever is less).
  • Every MW will require about two hectares of land.
  • This strategy does not need the project to meet any financial requirements through personal contribution.
  • Should the applicant is developing the project via a developer, the developer’s net worth needs to be at least Rs 1 crore for each megawatt-hour.
