NMMS Scholarship:- A scholarship program financed centrally is the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme for Economically Weaker Section Students, or NMMS). It is run by the Department of School Education & Literacy of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It is intended to give financial aid to worthy students from socioeconomically challenged families. By providing a scholarship of INR 12,000 per year, NMMS encourages underprivileged kids to pursue their secondary education. When the MCM scholarship is activated in November of each year, about 100,000 scholarships are given to worthy students.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development’s Department of School Education and Literacy has announced the 2023 NMMS Scholarship. The National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Programme is the official name of the NMMS scholarship. Socioeconomic incentives will be given to worthy students from low-income families as part of this scholarship program to reduce class 8 dropout rates, which are a function of the socioeconomic circumstances of the pupils. Students will be motivated to pursue secondary education through this scholarship program. Students in grades 9 through 12 would be eligible to receive financial aid of Rs 12,000 under this scholarship program.

The NMMS Scholarship was established in May 2008 to encourage gifted and underprivileged students to finish their secondary and post-secondary education to lower the percentage of these students who drop out of school after class 8. Students in grades 9 through 12 participate in two rounds of state-level selection exams each year to be eligible for the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship.
Each year, NMMS awards a total of 100,000 scholarships to selected students at the rate of INR 12,000 per year, or INR 1,000 per month. The State Bank of India (SBI) pays the scholarship sum in full under the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship. The money is immediately deposited into the student accounts via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). The population of each state and the number of students enrolled in classes 7 and 8 decide how many scholarships are awarded to each state and UT. The details of the NMMS amount are indicated below.

Students must ensure that they meet all requirements for this MCM scholarship to be eligible to apply for NMMS. After that, candidates can use NSP to submit an online scholarship application. The detailed application instructions for completing the NMMS scholarship form are provided below to assist students in completing it without trouble.
With the use of 90 multiple-choice questions covering subjects including analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern recognition, hidden figures, etc., this test evaluates students’ critical thinking and reasoning abilities.
The SAT consists of ninety multiple-choice questions covering maths, science, and social studies. These questions are based on the curriculum for classes 7 and 8.

Q.) How is the NMMS scholarship awarded to students?
Ans. Students must be enrolled in Class 9 as normal students to get advantages under the NMMS program. They must receive at least 55% of the possible points in the Class 8 exam, or equivalent grades. Additionally, students must receive at least 60% in Class 10 to continue earning the scholarship in Class 11. However, the students must pass Class 11 on their first try with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades to continue earning the scholarship in Class 12.

Ans. Students who meet the requirements for the NMMS program can apply online via the National Scholarship Portal. After logging into the user dashboard, students must register on the portal and proceed with the application process.
Q.) What is the Exam Pattern for NMMS?
Ans. The Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) are the two sections that make up the NMMS exam. While the SAT looks at students’ academic knowledge, the MAT evaluates their ability to reason. There are 90 multiple-choice questions on each test, which has a duration of 90 minutes.
