The Odisha government said on Monday that it was expanding its social security programme to include nearly 4 lakh new beneficiaries, including widows, the aged, and other vulnerable groups. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the benefits of the “Madhu Babu Pension Yojana” for an additional 4.13 applicants. Decisions were made based on feedback received throughout the CMO’s outreach campaign. The scope of the initiative has been expanded, with 32.75 lakh beneficiaries instead of merely 28.61 lakh. The recently approved beneficiaries will get their first pension payout on August 15 in front of political leaders. Elderly, widowed, disabled, single moms, HIV/AIDS-positive individuals, transgender individuals, and COVID-affected families are among the program’s beneficiaries. Additionally, they get paid Rs. 500 and Rs. each month.

As everyone knows, a large number of people are unable to support themselves financially because they are elderly or disabled. And because they must continue to rely on others, this poses numerous challenges. The Odisha government has developed a new programme called the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana with this in mind. The elderly and disabled residents of the state will receive cash support under this programme to help with their daily costs. Elderly individuals no longer have to rely on others to pay their bills.
It is important to note that those who are currently receiving benefits from the system will need to link their social welfare link account and Aadhaar cards. Before March 15th, all applicants must link their Aadhaar number to their social welfare link account to continue receiving benefits from the system. A photocopy of your Aadhaar card must be sent to link it when you visit the municipal or Gramme Panchayat office to pick up your pension.

Every month on the fifteenth, the pension amount will be paid out in cash to the beneficiary. Pension payments shall be made by the BDO or any officer reporting to the BDO at the Gramme Panchayat office (in a rural region) and by the DSSO or any officer reporting to the DSSO at the municipal office (in an urban area).
