West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Scheme in 2018 to provide financial assistance to farmers. The Chief Minister has now decided to revive the scheme. On 17 June it was announced that financial aid under the scheme would be doubled. Earlier farmers used to get Rs 5000 per year for holding one acre or more. So now farmers will get their double benefit of Rs 10,000 annually. Therefore Doubling the benefits of the West Bengal Krishak Bandhu scheme was part of the election manifesto of the Trinamool Congress. And About 68 lakh farmers will be benefited from this scheme. For the benefit of the farmers of the West Bengal state, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has come up with the Krishak Bandhu Scheme, which will be eligible for all the farmers of the West Bengal state.

The objective of the WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme

West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Yojana is a scheme designed to provide financial assistance to farmers in the state of West Bengal in India. The main objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to farmers to help them meet the cost of agricultural activities, such as purchasing seeds and fertilizers and to provide a financial safety net in case of crop failure or other unforeseen circumstances. Krishak Bandhu (Natun) in West Bengal Budget 2022-23.

The “Krishak Bandhu” scheme was revamped and launched as “Krishak Bandhu (Natun)”, doubling the financial assistance to farmers. So under the new scheme, each enrolled farmer gets financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 per year for one acre or more of agricultural land. Farmers having less than one acre of land will get a minimum of Rs. 4,000 per farmer per year. Therefore assistance amount has been distributed to 77.95 lakh beneficiaries in the year 2021-22, out of which Rs. 1,818.99 crores in Kharif and Rs. In the Rabi season, assistance amounting to Rs 2216.10 crore has been distributed to the farmers under the scheme. Under the scheme “Krishak Bandhu (Death Benefit)” assistance of Rs. @ Rupee. 2 lacks to the relatives of 38,533 deceased farmers, out of which 17,855 assistance has been given during 2021-22.
