The concerned Odisha government introduced the KALIA Scheme to assist all of the state’s farmers. Several advantages, including a Rs 5,000 incentive, were made accessible to the farmers through the scheme’s implementation. The government would give financial support to farmers whose names appear on the list of recipients of the Odisha Kalia Yojana. Benefits were provided separately to farmers who did not own their land. This program gave the farmers of Odisha a feeling of community and enabled them to go about their business worry-free.
The Odisha government has extended the farmer welfare program KALIA (Farmers Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) for another three years, in addition to granting a budget of Rs. 6029.70 crores for 2024–25 to 2026–27. To guarantee the farmers’ involvement in the financial growth of the State and to integrate them into the mainstream of society, it has been decided that this welfare program will be executed smoothly and without incident. The state cabinet, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, authorized an estimated budget of Rs. Rs. 6029.70 crore for the KALIA initiatives, which will aid all agricultural families over the next three years (2024–25 to 2026-27).
In observance of Nuakhai, the Odisha government on Wednesday made available Rs 900 crore to farmers as part of the Kalia Yojana. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik deposited the aid into the bank accounts of 44.56 lakh small, marginal, and landless farmers. The KALIA program will provide funding for rabi crops. A financial support of Rs. 2000 would be provided to each farmer. The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) option credited funds to farmers’ bank accounts.

The primary goal of the KALIA Yojana is to assist farmers in the state of Odisha since most farmers in our nation are not happy with their income. Furthermore, the money made is probably insufficient to cover their necessities and wants as well as their children’s educational expenses. Thus, KALIA Yojana will assist all farmers in meeting their needs and wants and will also assist them in obtaining loans for any other reason, such as their children’s education.
Over five seasons, farmers will receive financial aid totaling Rs. 25,000/-per family. The recipients of this support will be small and marginal farmers. For manpower and other inputs, as well as for the purchase of inputs like seeds, fertilizer, and pesticides, a maximum of Rs 5,000/-per season is set aside.
Vulnerable farmers and landless agricultural laborers under the KALIA Yojana who are unable to continue farming because of old age, illness, disability, or other reasons will also receive cash support. Each year, each vulnerable farmer and landless agricultural laborer will receive Rs 10,000 to cover their basic needs.
Farmers will receive a Rs 20 lakh life insurance policy. A yearly premium of Rs. 2,00,000 is payable. All customers who have savings bank accounts and are between the ages of 18 and 50 will receive insurance coverage. The Odisha government would pay Rs 165/-a year out of this premium. Farmers would receive personal accident coverage of Rs. 2 lakh in addition to life insurance. All savings bank account holders between the ages of 18 and 50 are required to pay an accident insurance premium of Rs. 12/-. Out of which the Government would pay Rs. 6/-. The Odisha government will pay an accident cover premium of Rs 12 for appellants between the ages of 51 and 70.
Vulnerable landless workers, farmers, sharecroppers, and agricultural families were selected by the Gramme Panchayats, and they will receive crop loans of up to Rs. 50,000 at 0% interest.
