A program run by the Ministry of MoHFW offers free and cost-free birth, including cesarean sections, to expectant mothers who use government health facilities for their delivery. Financial support under the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY)

Urban Area

  • The government would provide the woman ₹ 1000 and Asha ₹ 200 for their low-performance status.
  • Asha will receive ₹ 200 and the woman ₹ 600 for their high-performing status.

Rural Area

  • The woman will receive ₹ 1400 for her low-performance level, and Asha will receive ₹ 600.

Some important information related to the Janani Suraksha Yojana

  • This program was first launched on April 12, 2005.
  • All of the states and union territories in the country are part of the government’s Janani Suraksha Yojana.
  • The Central Government is in charge of overseeing this program.
  • This program would especially target the following states: Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The registered beneficiary needs to have both a JSY card and an MCH card to profit from this scheme.

  • ₹ 5000 will be given to you if it is delivered to your home. This sum will only be awarded if two children are born. The government will distribute this sum either at the time of delivery or within 7 days of it.
  • Maternity benefits for cesarean sections will be provided under this initiative. In addition, a payment of Rs. 1500 would be awarded.
  • Asha, who resides with the expecting mother, will receive ₹600. Furthermore, a maximum of ₹ 200 will be given out. Additionally, the government will support transportation for Rs 250 to Asha.
