DDU-GKY Scheme, The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) introduced the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) on September 25, 2014. The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) includes this program. Its goals are to support rural teenagers’ professional goals and give rural impoverished families a range of financial options. The goal of this program is to equip young people in rural areas with the skills necessary to find jobs in industries with comparatively higher wages.

More than 69% of the nation’s young, or 180 million people, between the ages of 18 and 34, reside in rural areas. Of them, over 55 million are young people from low-income households who have no or very little work. This program focuses especially on rural kids from low-income households between the ages of 15 and 35. DDU-GKY is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP)-based skill training initiative that is tied to placement. This program offers underprivileged rural adolescents high-quality skill training, enables technical assistance, and invests in initiatives suggested by its training partners.

Through conferences and seminars, DDUGKY interacts with industry leaders. In order to improve placement outcomes, the industries are asked to engage with DDU-GKY as Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) or to own a training batch that will provide long-term training.
