  • Employers must update Form 5A and reveal the employee reference base using a link in their employer login on the EPFO Unified Portal in order to register under ABRY.
  • Before registering a worker under ABRY as a “new employee,” the employer must get and confirm a statement of previous membership from the worker when they first joined the company.
  • For each employee, employers must submit an ECR and declaration in order to be eligible for benefits on a monthly basis.
  • Every employee, including those hired recently, must have an Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR) filed by the company within 60 days of the end of each pay month.
  • On the other hand, the employer bears the responsibility for the late filing of the ECR and, consequently, the section 7Q interest payment.
  • Future claims for higher benefits will not accept any modifications made to such an ECR.
  • The company must pay the full wage of a newly hired employee without deducting the employee’s share of the EPF payment from their monthly paycheck.
  • Establishments may not get benefits from the employer’s contribution under this plan if they are also receiving or claiming benefits from the major employer. This includes subcontracting businesses for one or more primary employers.
  • All information provided for ABRY benefit claims must be accurate, and employers and establishments are responsible for this.

Calculation of the reference base of the employees

It is necessary to compute the reference base number in the following manner in order to determine the establishment’s eligibility:
